Edwin G. Farmer
October 10th, 1944 - September 17th, 2016
Edwin Guy Farmer died unexpectedly in St. Petersburg, FL on September 17, 2016 at the age of 71. Ed is survived by his wife, Jill Collins-Farmer, daughter Erin and son John; and sisters Barbara Jacobs and Martha (Jim) Goebel. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Bray, stepfather, Frank Morelock, and brother-in-law, Don Jacobs. Ed was born on October 10, 1944 in Bristol, Virginia. He graduated from Florida International University with an engineering degree. Ed and Jill married 13 years ago in Tampa and have enjoyed many fun and exciting years together during his retired years splitting their time between their homes in Buenos Aires, Argentina and St. Petersburg, FL. Ed worked at King Engineering Associates, Inc. and served on its Board of Directors from July 1, 1985 to January 16, 2009. In early 1994, he and three other individuals purchased the controlling interest of King and Ed became CEO of the company. While Ed was at King, he managed many noteworthy land development projects in the Tampa Bay area, including the large Summerfield community in Hillsborough County. Ed was very active in the Tampa Bay Builders Association, where he served as an officer and chaired its Political Action Committee for many years. While in St. Pete, he enjoyed the warm, sunny weather, and loved to sail on his boat, go for runs on the bayway, and spend afternoons on the patio reading or watching sports. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife, Jill and looked forward to their annual family ski trips with Erin and John. He enjoyed his time in Buenos Aires, running through the many parks, getting together with his friends, and attending his regular lunch meetings with his Gourmandizers men’s’ group and BAIN (Buenos Aires International Newcomers) outings. Services will begin at 3 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at the David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, with a gathering following the service until 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to “Sail to Prevail” (sailtoprevail.org) or “First Book” (firstbook.org). David C.
