November 3rd, 1932 - January 16th, 2017
"Belchertown- Edwin C. Waszkelewicz, 84, of Belchertown and formerly of Ludlow, passed away on January 16, 2017. Born in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Sophie (Gramkowski) Waszkelewicz. Edwin proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was the beloved husband of Marianne (Pope) Waszkelewicz, to whom he was married for 22 years. Edwin was known, among other things, for his creativity and humor. He was considered an entrepreneur of sorts, especially by his children, and was a master of many trades. He was a land developer and builder, and previous to that, a hairdresser for 35 years. He was a kind and generous soul who loved all sports, especially golf, the New England Patriots, college basketball, skiing, and boating. Above all else, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his caregivers at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke for their generous care and compassion. In addition to his wife Marianne, Edwin is survived by his children, Michael and his wife Peggy of Marlborough, CT, Paul and his wife Carrie of Glastonbury, CT, Donna Murray and her husband Frank of Westchester, PA, Kathy Waszkelewicz of Jupiter, FL, and Mary Barnes and her husband Steve of Suffield, CT; step-children Arthur Clewley of Chicopee, and Karen Jolley of Belchertown; brothers John Waszkelewicz of Windsor, CT and Joseph Waszkelewicz of Groton, CT; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, John Waszkelewicz and his sister, Florence Clowes. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Church in Ludlow, 859 Center St., Ludlow. The family wishes that flowers be omitted, and if desired, memorial donations may be made in Edwin's name to the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040. The Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., has been entrusted with his arrangements. "
