Eileen Marie Kapust

Born January 9, 1937 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Eileen Marie (Matthias) Kapust passed away December 1, 2014 in Rochester, Washington, a month shy of her 78th birthday. She lived in Manitowoc until 1962 when she married John Kapust on August 25, 1962, and they moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Eileen then lived in Scobey, Montana (1963-1971), Kirkland, Washington (1971-1972), and Olympia, Washington (1973-2014). Eileen graduated as a Registered Nurse (RN) from Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc. In addition to working as an RN, she was a dental office accountant, and owned multiple small businesses, including personal color analysis consulting and a home décor/gift shop. A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, she was a devout Catholic who loved singing in the church choir. She was dedicated to community service and conducted Broadway musical fundraiser events for St. Peter Hospital and was involved with children’s dental health education. She also was an expert skier, international traveler, co-pilot in her husband’s airplane and, as a youth, was very involved in 4-H. She was a member of the American Nursing Association, American Dialysis Association, and St. Peter Hospital Auxiliary in Olympia. Eileen is survived by her husband, Dr. John Kapust of Olympia, Washington; sons, Andrew (Elizabeth) Kapust of Olympia, Greg (Heidi) Kapust of San Ramon, California, and Leo (Heather) Kapust of Olympia; daughter, Mary Jo Kapust of Olympia; seven grandchildren; brothers, Jon Matthias of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Daniel Matthias of Whitehall, Wisconsin, and Joseph (Carol) Matthias of Manitowoc; sisters, Marilynne Matthias (Kevin Bacon) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Patricia (Ken) Meier of Irving, Texas, and Annette Andropolis of Sturgeon Bay. She was predeceased by her parents, Arland and Irene Matthias; brothers, Dean Matthias, Dennis Matthias, and James Matthias; sister-in-law, Diane Matthias; and brother-in-law, Andrew Andropolis.
