Elaine C. Johnson

A Celebration of Life service for Elaine C. Johnson, 81, of Columbia, will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Mr. Craig Duensing will officiate. Interment in Woodridge Memorial Park will follow the service. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM) at the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park. Woodridge Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Johnson passed away on November 21, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Albert S. Cooper and Laura Campbell Cooper. Elaine is survived by her children; son, Stephen G. Johnson of Columbia; daughter, Kelli Lawson (Richard) of Lexington; grandchildren, Brent Johnson, Kayla Bishop (Nicholas), Taylor Smith (Chase Bethea), Cooper Smith, Ashley Lawson, Macey Lawson; great grandson, Banks Bethea. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Wilbur Johnson; sister, Margaret Puckett, and brother, A.S. Cooper, Jr. She leaves behind a loving extended family. Elaine and her husband, Wilbur, owned Palmetto Paint and Body Shop for 47 years. They worked side by side every day. There were not many activities that they didn’t do together. She worked at TD Bank in the Processing Center for 10 years. In July 2019 she assisted her niece Jony Crosby, with opening Merle Norman Cosmetics in Irmo, where she worked until her health declined. Elaine loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. An adventurous spirit, she found joy in motorcycles rides, NASCAR races, and cherished moments at the beach and on the lake.
