Eleanor Levin Davidov
October 9th, 1930 - April 7th, 2020
Eleanor Levin Davidov, 89 passed away on April 7, 2020 at home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Eleanor dedicated her life to family, friends, art and travel. She was married for 49 years to the late Leonard Davidov, an expert in electronic security. Eleanor was a founding docent at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden for over 30 years. Eleanor and Leonard collected Washington Color School artwork and visited the homes and studios of many artists. Eleanor was a charter member of the Guild of Washington Tour Guides and enthusiastically shared the art and architecture of Washington, D.C. with visitors. She established Courtyard Antiques in Annapolis, Maryland and served on the Board of the Chesapeake Academy in Arnold, Maryland. Eleanor moved to St. Petersburg and became a member of the Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College (ASPEC) and the Stewart Society at the MFA. She donated two works by a prominent Washington Color School artist, Gene Davis, to the MFA. Eleanor and her companion of 10 years, Alan Samuels, enjoyed organizing classes and trips for ASPEC members as well as theatre and extensive travel. A devoted mother of Robin Davidov (Christopher Lerbs) of St. Petersburg, Wendy Kelman (Gary) of Millersville, Maryland and Carole Schechner (Richard) of Scarsdale, New York, loving sister of Martha Miller, Martin Levin (Susan) and Charles Levin (Cindy Flowers). She leaves a legacy of art appreciation and adventure to her five adoring grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Eckerd College ASPEC Visual Arts Council or the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. A private funeral will be held. A celebration of life will be planned once restrictions are lifted. The care of Eleanor and her family have been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
