Eleta Milner
September 22nd, 2014
In Loving Memory of ELETA DUNCAN MILNER "ALWAYS THE LIFE OF THE PARTY!" 02/26/1935 - 09/22/2014 Eleta Duncan Milner, 79 of Rockledge FL, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 07:33am Monday September 22, 2014. Eleta was born in Jacksonville FL to Eleta Padgett from Tampa, FL and Robert Huling Duncan of Duncannon, PA on February 26, 1935. Eleta grew up in Jacksonville along with her big brother Patrick Flanagan Duncan and went to Lee High School. Eleta became a paralegal and worked for her dad as well as other attorneys. Eleta even worked for Jimmy Hoffa for around 6 months and advised he was a very nice man and not a womanizer at all. Eleta met, her husband to be, Harry Max Milner, in Jacksonville where they were married. Eleta was a loving wife to Harry and a loving mother to their four children. Together they raised two sons and two daughters, Richard Duncan Milner, Robert Duncan Milner, Eleta Dawn Milner and Kimberly Denise Milner. Since Harry was a Navy Fighter Pilot, the family moved to California in 1963, then relocated to Virginia Beach, VA. in 1968, where they stayed until Harrys 2nd and final retirement from the Navy. In 1986 Eleta and Harry made their retirement move to Rockledge, FL. While living in Virginia Beach Eleta was on the board for the Virginia Beach S.P.C.A. from the mid 1970's-mid 1980's along side her best friend Alletta McClure. The two families, Milner and McClure, were tight...so tight they adopted each other as relatives. Meet the McClure's: Auntie Alletta, Uncle Dale, and cousins Ken, Allison and Scott. Eleta was also a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) due to relative Patrick Henry and also worked as a volunteer at hospitals. Eleta was feisty due to her mom and inherited her dancing abilities from her relative Isadora Duncan. But then again, Isadora was feisty as well! Eleta was full of spunk, had a GREAT sense of humor, and was a little sarcastic (in the fun way). Eleta loved all kinds of animals and donated frequently to the local shelters. Eleta and Harry adopted their current 2 kitties, Crissy and Tigger, from their local shelter and rescue homes. Eleta and Harry loved the Brevard Zoo and attended frequently. Eleta loved the giraffes the most, and even went kayaking with daughter Kim to take "up close and personal" photos of the gentle giants. Eleta enjoyed going to the numerous Air Shows and squadron reunions with Harry. Eleta also enjoyed playing Bridge and numerous other card games. Eleta was a loving wife to Harry, loving mother, as well as a loving grandmother and great grandmother and will be GREATLY MISSED! Eleta Duncan Milner is survived by her loving husband of over half a century Harry Milner (80) of Rockledge, FL. Her children, son Rick Milner (62) and wife Dianne Milner (61) of Norfolk, VA, son Rob Milner (58) of Rockledge, FL, daughter Eleta Needham (53) and husband Tom Needham (55) of Virginia Beach, VA, and daughter Kim Milner (51) of Wesley Chapel, FL. Grandchildren include Rick Milner's daughter Kristen Milner (33) and great grandson Drake Gordon (1) of Norfolk VA, Eleta Needham's oldest daughter Holly Raker (28) husband Kory Raker (35) and great granddaughter Lucy (2) of Virginia Beach, Va., son and youngest daughter Joey Needham (17) and Amy Needham (14) of Virginia Beach, VA. Her brother Patrick Flanagan Duncan (passed 09/23/1999) his wife Inge Duncan (91) of Port Saint Lucy, FL and their children Al Duncan (71) of Duluth, GA, Bob Duncan (63) of Madison, AL. and Inge Williams (58) of Sunrise, FL., along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers as well as kind words. Arrangements by FAMILY owned and operated Atlantic Mortuary & Cremation, Rockledge.
