Elin Hanson Weber
May 27th, 1921 - June 21st, 2007
Mrs. Elin Hanson Weber, 86, of Paris Road, Ft. Plain, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007 at her home. Born on May 27, 1921 in Yonkers, NY she was the daughter of the late C. Falster and Madeline Schneider Hanson. She received her education from Douglas College of Rutgers University, and went on to the State University of New York at Oneonta to receive her MS in education. Mrs. Weber taught high school English in Gilboa, Jefferson, Delhi, Middleburgh and Richmondville until her retirement in 1978. She also served as the Assistant Registrar for SUNY Oneonta. Some of her favorite pastimes included line dancing, knitting, sewing, reading and cross word puzzles. She also was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star, the DAV Auxiliary, AARP, and was a 4-H leader for many years. She also served on a citizens committee under NYS Attorney General Louis Lefkowitz dealing with consumer fraud. For many years during the winter months she wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, returning to Ft. Plain for the summers. On December 12, 1942 she was united in marriage to Arthur W. Weber. That union lasted 58 years until his passing on March 22, 2000. She also was predeceased by a brother, Jere F. Hanson Sr., and a nephew, Jere F. Hanson Jr. Her loving family includes three daughters, Wendy Ayers Kenneth of Ft. Plain, NY, Jan Becker Larry of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Marsha Raymond Joseph Todd of Knox, NY; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. At Elin?s request there are no funeral services or calling hours. Interment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
