Elizabeth "Betty" Patricia Lindquist

Elizabeth “Betty” Patricia Lindquist, in her 100th year, passed away at home May 27th in Ridgeville, SC. However, she lived most of her life in East Syracuse, NY. Born June 5, 1923 in Recife, Brazil, and raised in England, she was the youngest daughter of Alexander S. and Grace E. (Percy) McInnes. After her retirement from Agway Insurance in 1985, she was able to devote all her time to her favorite purpose in life: her family. She dearly loved everyone. Whenever she had the opportunity to care for her grandchildren for extended periods of time, she was filled with joy because spending time with family was her bliss. Betty was big-hearted and ready to help anyone in need. Over the years, she provided love, care, and support for many friends and aging relatives. A dog-lover, she missed her long-time companion, Nozy, but enjoyed and loved all the dogs in her extended family since Nozy’s passing. She enthusiastically agreed to any chance for pet-sitting. An avid gardener, there was not a flower or vegetable that did not thrive under her care. She loved worldwide travel, especially with the Syracuse YMCA Folksmarchers, but her fondest place on Earth was the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate NY. She spent many summers camping in its evergreen forests and swimming in its cool lakes, enjoying cozy campfires and s’mores with family and friends. She is survived by daughter Cheryl (Stephen) Ruiz of Ridgeville, SC, grandsons Brandon (Angela) Ruiz of Charleston, SC, Scott (Lia) Crowder of Rochester, NY, and Glenn (Shana) Crowder of Falling Waters, WV. She also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Brayden Ruiz, Stella and Grant Crowder, and Benjamin and Emma Crowder. Additional surviving family includes many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her first husband Gerald L. Bedore, who served in the Canadian Army and died in Italy in WWII, as well as their daughter, Patricia (Bedore) Crowder. Also, her second husband Elmer (Ted) Lindquist passed away in 1975. She will be dearly missed by close friends: Father Michael Carmola, and Rev. Elaine Africa, Jean Armour Polly, and their families, as well as by many of daughter Cheryl’s friends who thought of her as their second Mom. Her kindness, generosity, and loyalty gave family and friends a timeless example of how to live a beautiful and fulfilling life. There are no plans for a memorial service at this time.
