Leave a tribute

Elizabeth "Lori" Crocker, 60, was called to be with the Lord on January 6, 2016 while surrounded by family, comfortably in her home. She was born on November 23, 1955 in Raleigh, NC to Betsy Daniels and the late Bobby Bennett. Lori is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Tim; her children, Jason, Blake, Amy and husband Jeff Thompson; grandchildren, Cara, Carson and Brianna Crocker, and Emory and Gaines Thompson; stepfather, John Daniels; her brothers, Bart and Bill. She was best known for the amount of time she spent caring for her family and friends and her love of teaching children. She spent many years working as a preschool teacher, she taught last at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. She also had the southern love for monogramming and her own business, TLC Embroidery, where she enjoyed making things special and personal for others. She truly enjoyed being outside in the sun working in her yard or relaxing on the beach. Her desire to bless others and to always go out of her way to help was contagious. Lori not only shared the word of God but she lived it and modeled it daily. The family would like to specially thank all those that cared for her; most importantly the Medical University of South Carolina - Hollings Cancer Center, Hope Lodge Charleston, and Hospice & Palliative Care. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte NC. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking gifts be made to Hope Lodge Charleston, 269 Calhoun Street Charleston SC 29401.

The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
