Elizabeth “Betty” H. Serna

Elizabeth 'Betty' Winifred Harder Billau Serna born October 21, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY passed peacefully the morning of December 1, 2018 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband Willy; brother Philip Harder; daughter Bonny (Terry) Billau Hennigan; sons T. Alan, Kendal L., Roger F., and Martin S. Billau; her daughter Gayle Lang; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and step-children Cathy & Jerry Serna. Betty's favorite past-time was cooking, baking, and collecting recipes. There was always something cooking or ready to eat when we went to visit. She was a creative soul keeping her kids busy with various arts and crafts as they were growing, sewing all their clothes herself. Losing her first husband when she was 33 with 5 children in tow was a huge challenge which she stepped up to with tremendous tenacity. She was an amazing Mom. When she met Willy, the love of her life, the two of them moved down to the South Valley, raised peacocks, and joined the Caravanner's RV club which took them on some amazing travels throughout the US with new found friends which she enjoyed immensely. She did a lot of knitting and crocheting during this time, (and cooking/baking of course) with her last big creative endeavor being Swedish Weaving. **Please join us to celebrate Betty's life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 6:00pm at The Riverside Funeral Home (225 San Mateo).
