Born March 29, 1926 in Benham, KY Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, Arthur "Doc" and Minnie Gillespie Fugate of Cumberland KY, brother James Fugate of St Paul, VA, beloved cousin Jane Bratcher of Litchfield, KY and late husband of 56 years, James (Jim) Edward Hill of Shannon, MS. Elizabeth grew up in Cumberland, KY where she discovered her love for music. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, TN before transferring to Western Kentucky University where she earned a degree in music. Elizabeth moved to Gastonia, NC and Phoenix, AZ to teach music and experience new surroundings. She later moved to Louisville, KY (she was always a Kentucky girl at heart) and met the love of her life Jim. After serving in the Korean War, Jim was transferred with Belknap Hardware from Tupelo, MS to Louisville where they met staying in the same boarding house. Following a brief stay in Macon, GA, with Jim's job they decided to return to Cumberland where Elizabeth taught music at Lynch High School. Jim graduated from Lincoln Memorial University and pursued a career with General Telephone. They later moved to Lexington and raised four children. She joined Rosemont Baptist Church and was a choir member and soloist for many years. Elizabeth's love of music included playing the piano at every chance until her passing. Her love of the arts was also evident in her passion for painting, quilting and refinishing antique furniture. Upon Jim's relocation with General Telephone to Durham, NC in 1984, Elizabeth joined Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was a member until moving to Charlotte, NC in 2008. Elizabeth is survived by her son Brian (Karen) Hill of Lexington KY; daughter Rebecca Osbourne of Charlotte, NC; daughter Regina (Bill) Young of Charlotte, NC and son Eddie (Kary) Hill of Ft. Mill, SC, 5 grandchildren, Christopher Hill (Lain), Melissa Doss (Daniel), Zakkary Hill, Jakob Hill, William Young, and 2 great granddaughters Logan Ann Hill, and Sydney James Hill.
