Elizabeth Lyon Nichols Koss, 65, of Santa Barbara, California passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She completed her associate’s degree in veterinary science due to her life long love of animals. She married Gregory William Koss in 1985 and started their family in Massachusetts. Her greatest wish in life was to become a mother and was blessed to have 3 beautiful children. Elizabeth’s positivity knew no bounds. No matter who she met, her kind heart was engaged and excited to hear their story. She never missed a birthday and was always the first person to sing to you regardless of the hour. Everyone always felt her strong and unwavering love. Every day she wore an outfit that was uniquely matched with her colorful and expressive personality and never left the house without topping it off with pink lipstick. She enjoyed spending time caring for rescue animals, winning Mah Jong, and exploring Saturday morning yard sales. She was a devoted member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara. She is survived by her husband Gregory, twin sister Lynn White, & sister-in law Pamela Van Atta. Elizabeth’s legacy lives on through her three children: daughter Jennifer Nichols Koss and husband Daniel Williams; daughter Claire Richmond Johnson and husband Kevin Johnson; & son Weston Lyon Koss. In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth Koss can be honored by making a contribution in her name to: Santa Barbara Equine Assistance and Evac Team - SB Equine-Evac Team P.O Box 60535, Santa Barbara, CA 93160 “Grief never ends, but it changes. It is a passage not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.”
