Elizabeth Leffler
April 18th, 1916 - February 23rd, 2010
Elizabeth Leffler, 93, of Eaton, CO passed away at North Colorado Medical Center on February 23, 2010. Elizabeth was born on April 18, 1916 in Windsor, CO to Henry and Anna Elizabeth (Miller) Lind. She was one of ten siblings. As a young girl she worked along side her family in the beet fields, as did many of the German families from Russia. She attended school in Windsor where she was an eager and capable student. Elizabeth was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Windsor and a long standing member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eaton. Elizabeth was a devoted and loving mother to her ten children. She was known throughout the community for her cooking and no one left her house hungry. Elizabeth was a faithful member of a bible study group for as many years as she was able. She would regularly read the bible and pray, with her family or in solitude. Her strong faith and love of cooking were passed on to her children and grandchildren. She always had a sparkle in her clear blue eyes, a smile on her face, a kind word for all, and a warm hug for any child in her home. Survivors include Victor Leffler, her husband of 73 years, six sons; Charles (Bernadene) Leffler, John (Jodie) Leffler, and Russell (Gwen) Leffler of Eaton, Richard (Lois) Leffler of Loveland,CO, Phillip Leffler and special friend Joan Hegland of Greeley; Larry Leffler of Stockton, CA; and three daughters, Dorothy (David) Bates of Kersey, CO, Linda (Larry) Broyles of Goodyear, AZ, and Karen (Richard) Forbes of Plano, TX; 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also survived by two sisters, Marie Suppes of Fort Collins, CO and Eva Bennett of Rochester, MN. She is preceded in death by brothers, Henry, John, William, Jake and Reuben Lind; and sisters, Mary (Carl) Keller and Kathryn (Manuel) Eiring; one daughter, Ann Bales and a grandson, Owen Leffler. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 26th at Faith Lutheran Church, North Cheyenne Avenue in Eaton, preceded by a viewing at 9:30 a.m. A reception will be held in the parish hall following the services and interment at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made to "Faith Lutheran Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
