Elizabeth Manchester, 92, died Saturday August 22, 2009 at the Fulton County Residential Healthcare Facility. She was born in Peck Lake, NY on October 18, 1916, the daughter of the late Irvin and Maude Countryman Foss. Elizabeth was married to George Manchester on January 21, 1933. They spent over seventy years in marriage until he passed away on December 14, 2003. Elizabeth was very active in the Bleecker Community Church. She was also very active in St. Mary's Bowling League. She loved to travel, solve wordsearch and crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching the Yankees. Survivors include two sons: William F. Manchester Joyce of Greer, SC and George B. Manchester Dorothy of Bleecker; a sister, Gertrude Galway of Indian Orchard, MA; six grandchildren: Cathy, Katie, Timothy, Sandra, Randall and Christina and ten great grandchildren: Robert, Tonya, Brandon, Phillip, Sara, Brittany, Trevor, Cassandra, Josh and Chaz. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Nina May Millett and Gladys Compani. Visitation will be Wednesday August 26, 2009 from 12 to 2 pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A funeral service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home with Rev. Kathy Reese officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to Pineview Commons, 201 S. Melcher St., Johnstown, NY 12095.
