Ella Mirabal of San Rafael, New Mexico passed away on January 6, 2019. She was born on April 9, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Cecilio M. Mirabal, daughter Tricia Harris, parents Antonio and Juanita Gonzales, brother Alex D. Gonzales, sister Gloria Gottlieb, brother Antonio Gonzales, Jr., and son-in-law Mark Hiles. She is survived by her children Bernadette Hiles, Danny (Jodie) Mirabal, Jeanne Narramore, and Veronica (Rick) Scarbro, all of San Rafael. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She attended grade school at St. Joseph's in San Fidel. She attended Catholic boarding school in Albuquerque. She also attended New Mexico State University, majoring in home economics. Ella's entire world revolved around her family, which included her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. She found incredible joy in attending their various activities and supporting them in their wide areas of interest. Ella could be found in the bleachers at events ranging from County and State Fairs, to rodeos and ropings, to football and basketball games. If her family was involved, she was front and center supporting them. She loved being a rancher's wife and doing all the duties that come with owning a ranch. She was also a 4-H club leader for the Horseshoe 4-H Club in San Rafael. Ella's love of cooking was her way of taking care of those she adored…she was always happiest sitting and visiting with friends and family…even complete strangers! She enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations with her grandchildren. Seeing and experiencing new things with them gave her great joy. Many of her favorite memories came from owning and watching the Mirabal Racing Stable racehorses. She loved the opportunity to be able to cheer on her horses. Ella's faith was very important to her. She was a member of the San Rafael Catholic Church Alter Society. Ella left a great legacy in her family and community. She will be greatly missed. Pall Bearers are Brandon Narramore, Ryan Hiles, JoDan Mirabal, Denton Scarbro, Cody Mirabal, Skylar Narramore, and Payden Scarbro. Honorary Pall Bearers are Shay Narramore, Bodie Narramore, Michael Bloise III, Zachary Bloise, and Steven Gonzales. Viewing will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at San Rafael Catholic Mission in San Rafael, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm.
