Ellen Chamberlin

Ellen Ruth Chamberlin passed away peacefully on November 26, 2012 at Valle Verde Health Center. She was born in Lamar, Colorado January 28, 1921 to Kenneth and Ruth Deverman. The family settled in Santa Barbara when Ellen was 2 years old. A 1939 graduate of Santa Barbara High School, Ellen married her high school sweetheart Gene Chamberlin in 1940. They enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage before Gene passed away in 1993. Ellen was a talented pianist, organist, painter, ballroom dance instructor and bingo player. She was a compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Ashcraft (Wayne) of Santa Barbara, Donna Lemere (Fred) of Carpinteria and Susan Griffin of Telluride, CO. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Ellen is also survived by her sister Barbara Holloway of Palmdale. The family wishes to especially thank the many staff members at Valle Verde who contributed to her care over the past several years. A memorial service will be held at Valle Verde’s Schneider Social Room on Sunday, December 2nd at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
