Ellen Josie Dillard

Kingsport – Ellen J. Lane Dillard, 83, of Kingsport went to sleep in Jesus’ name on Sunday night, June 9, 2019 at her home with all of her family by her side. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always wanted to make sure her children and family were taken care of. She was a faithful member of Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbie Jo Barr; parents, Loyd and Etta Lane; sisters, Opal Adkins, Jessie Seymour, Mary Gardner, and Mae Gregg; brothers, Bill Lane, Harvey Lane, Virgil Lane and Earl Lane. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Robert L. Dillard; six children, Randy Lane, Tonya Tomlin and husband, Greg, Darrell Dillard and wife Sheila; Lisa Herring and husband, Brian; James Dillard and wife, Kim; son-in-law, Jeff Barr; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Goldie Booker and husband, Virgil; brother, Gene Forbes and wife, Patty; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will received friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at Carter-Trent Funeral home or friends may call anytime at the home. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Elder Everett Lett and Rev. Freddie Redmond, Sr. officiating. Music will be provided by Joann Compton and Tim Lovell. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Sulphur Springs Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
