Ellen Mae Douberly Priester Davenport, 92, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at home with her family by her side. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Caldwell Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ellen was born July 2, 1917 in Savannah Georgia to Henry and Vesta Douberly. At the age of 12 she traveled west to visit family and fell in love with Idaho. She returned to Idaho for another visit at age 19. Ellen married Ellis Priester September 29, 1936 in Savannah Georgia and had four children. The family moved to Buhl Idaho in 1953. She worked in a local nursing home in the kitchen at Caldwell. Ellen married Lee Davenport on November 23, 1960 at Payette and they made their home in Caldwell and Greenleaf. They adopted two children and fostered 32 children. Ellen was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, working in the Dorcas. Ellen and Lee enjoyed traveling, she also enjoyed collecting sea shells and making scrapbooks. She is survived by her two daughters Nancy Ramsey and LeAnn McClure; four sons John Priester III, Edward Priester, Darryl Priester and Richard Davenport; three step-daughters Mathersa Michel, Joyce Rich and Maxine Burian; one step-son Robert Davenport; two sisters Ann Perry and Lily Ramsey; 33 grand children, 69 great grandchildren, 33 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, one sister, one step-son and 3 grandchildren. Service Information
