### Obituary for Ellen Margaret Long (née Hagebusch)
**Ellen Margaret Long** (born December 25, 1954, in Missouri, USA) passed away on October 3, 2023. Always the one to challenge expectations, Ellen departed this world leaving us all mildly shocked and deeply saddened.
Born on Christmas Day, Ellen brought a unique flair to the world from the very start. She lived her life as an unwrapped gift, sometimes tangled in her own ribbon but always a joy to have around. Her sharp wit and infectious humor were her trademarks, making everyone feel lighter even in life’s heavier moments.
Ellen's life's journey was not just one taken on a serene highway. She courageously navigated the bumpy roads of addiction, and for many years, she was an active participant in her local 12 Step programs. Her humor and candidness made her an unforgettable friend for many in the program, helping others through their stormy seas with a laugh and a steady hand.
Her memorial was held at the Saint Camillus Center Chapel in Los Angeles, California, on November 4, 2023. While Ellen may have had her own struggles, her genuine charm and humor etched unforgettable memories in the hearts of those who knew her. Many of her family and friends were present to celebrate her life, share laughs and stories, along with some painful and challenging memories.
As we say goodbye to Ellen Margaret Long, we remember not a woman who fought her battles alone, but one who shared her journey with a community, bringing a little more light—and a whole lot more laughter—into the world. In the spirit of Ellen, we end not with a heavy heart but with a light chuckle. Rest in peace, Ellen, knowing your laughter echoes in our memories forever.
