Ellen Long Tedesco

Ellen Long Tedesco, caring mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, died on June 28, 2024. She was 61 years old.

Ellen was born on May 6, 1963, in Carrollton, Georgia, to her parents Edwin and Frances Long. She graduated from the University of West Georgia with a degree in Marketing in 1986. Ellen met the love of her life in Atlanta and they were married soon after in October of 1989. They had two daughters, Emily and Elizabeth, and moved from Alpharetta, Georgia, to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, in 2003.

After spending many years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Ellen joined her daughters at Hilton Head Island High School as the front-desk receptionist. She then went on to J.Banks Designs where she retired in 2023.

Ellen was a friend and mother to all, and always had a kind word and listening ear for everyone she met. Her friendships were one of her biggest joys in life, and she made every effort to let her friends know how much she cared for them.

She was extremely creative with an abundance of natural talent, and she enjoyed many mediums, including sewing, painting, jewelry making, home decorating, sculpture and more. Above all, Ellen sought to bring beauty to every space she inhabited.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughters, Emily Writer (Lauren) and Elizabeth Tedesco; her mother, Frances Long; her sister, Allison Fleming (Jim); her brother, David Long (Margaret); and many other family members and close friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Long; and her brother, Eddie Long.

A memorial will take place in Ellen’s honor on July 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church, 171 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina 29928. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary narthex. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic.
