Ellen Ruth Vriezelaar
January 9th, 1925 - April 5th, 2018
Born January 9, 1925, to John and Sarah DenOtter in Iowa. She passed away on April 5, 2018, in California. Ruth met the love of her life, William T. Vriezelaar (Bill), in Iowa. On November 23, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, they were married. They celebrated many happy years together. Ruth and Bill had four children, Terry Vriezelaar, Nancy Panteloglow Pooler, Karen Zielgler Linteo and Beth Vriezelaar. They were Blessed with six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Bill was in the USAF and they lived many places during their seventy years of marriage. Some of these were Arizona, Hunter AFB in Savannah, Georgia, Harmon AFB in Newfoundland, Beale AFB and Yuba City, California. They had many friends with whom they kept in touch throughout their lives. Ruth was adept and accomplished at nearly every task she undertook during her life. As an example she was a Girl Scout Leader and took her troop of girls from Savannah, Georgia to Washington, D.C. by train. While there they toured the capitol and learned a lot about their country. When Bill retired from the USAF, after serving with the SR-71 team, in 1971, they moved to Yuba City, California. At that time they co-founded Sutter Marine, boats and motors in Yuba City, California. They worked together at this business for twenty years. It was during this time they started to travel. They loved to travel in their RV and enjoyed the company of family and friends on many trips. They went to Canada, Mexico and nearly every state in the United States. Their trips were very memorable. They decided to see Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and it soon became their favorite place to travel. Ruth even stood on the top of a cooled lava flow, where you could see the red of the lava. They enjoyed camping, fishing, Mooseing, dancing and being with their friends. They continued to enjoy all of these activities for as long as they could. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Vriezelaar; sister, Lois Donahue; brothers, Donald and Burton DenOtter. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services are through Ullrey Colonial Chapel in Yuba City California. She will join her husband Bill at Sutter Cemetery Friday, April 13, 2018, at 10:00am, with a celebration reception of her life at 11:00 at the Harvest Room on Butte House Road in Yuba City California.
