Ellen Armstrong Wolfe, 80 of Surgoinsville went to sleep in the arms of her heavenly father on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her home. She was born on April 9, 1938 to the late Richard and Ruth (Gilreath) Armstrong. Ellen was saved at an early age at Oakdale Baptist Church and was a member there for over 70 years. She graduated from Surgoinsville High School in 1956 as Valedictorian and retired from AFG in 2005 after 44 years of service. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. “Junior” Wolfe; sister, V. Jeanne Armstrong Smith. Survivors include her brother, Ralph Armstrong and his daughter Jill; sister, Mary Jane Pruitt (Robert) and their children Beth (Matt), Andi (Chris), and Mark (Chenoa); brother-in-law, Bill Smith and his children Luanne (Lee) and Ricky (Tracey); grand nieces and nephews, Haven, Aliyah, and Drew Crawley, Jeremy Burkhart, Jaxon, Alli, and Elli Richter, Rome Pruitt, Lee Taylor III, Kathryn Means, Julie Luttrell, Walker and Cameron Smith; in addition to many great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Freddy Freeman and Pastor Greg Fletcher officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark Pruitt, Robert Pruitt, Leonard Gilreath, Bobby Lane, Chris Crawley, Ricky Smith, and Travis Brooks serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Virgil Mauk, Jeremy Burkhart, and Tommy Gilreath. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oakdale Cemetery Fund at 1937 Carters Valley Rd. Surgoinsville, TN 37873.
