Elmer Edwards A funeral service will be held for Elmer Clifford Edwards, 98 of Chico, on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 6 p.m. at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Elmer died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in Chico. He was born December 12, 1908 in Mildred, Missouri. At the age of nine Elmer quit school to get a job to help support the family. In 1931 he married Vestle Coffelt in Missouri. He farmed in Missouri until 1936 when he moved to Klamath Falls, Or where he and three of his brothers worked at the Weyerhauser lumbermill. During WWII he moved back to Missouri to help support the family. In 1944 Elmer went back to Klamath Falls where he owned and operated a Texaco service station for about 30 years. After his wife Vestle had a stroke he spent everyday for two years caring for her until she passed away. He did the same for his daughter Frieda after she had a stroke. His survivors include one brother Floyd (Alma) Edwards of Klamath Falls, OR; one sister, Clara Coffelt of Jefferson City, MO; grandchildren Bob Myers of Vacaville, Cliff Myers of Chico, Don Myers of Vacaville, Dana Anthony of Tucson, AZ and Elizabeth Enos of Prosser, WA; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Vestle Edwards, daughter Frieda Myers and grandson Robin Myers. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Eternal Hills Memorial Garden in Klamath Falls, OR. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in care of the Affordable Mortuary.
