Elmer Ray Hopper
August 31st, 1950 - April 2nd, 2021
The family of Elmer (Suni) Hopper want to thank you all for your support and for your comforting words. As you know, and perhaps some may not have heard, our "Suni Ray" passed away on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born August 31, 1950 in Madera, California. In 1958 the family moved to the Paradise/Magalia area, and still to this date, most call this mountainous area home. Suni loved the mountains, the trees, the sparkling creeks, lakes and rushing rivers. He said being out in nature to him was being in Church. Suni loved the Lord, and he prayed for all of us. So often he was heard telling a friend, or a loved one, "Keep the Faith". Day after day, he told everyone who reached out to him, "I have hope." His words conveyed he loved the Lord, and had placed his trust in God, and the plans God had for him. Indeed, Suni's hope was in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Creator, our Salvation, the Savior of our soul...Christ is coming soon to take us home with Him! Suni was a joy and a blessing to all who knew him. He never knew a stranger for everyone was considered his friend. Suni served in the Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. When he returned home from serving his country, he returned to the profession of ceramic tile setting and carpentry, working alongside his Dad. Elmer Ray Hopper (Suni) is survived by his wife Betty Jean, two step daughters and three grand children; his loving mother, Clara Hopper, three brothers, two sisters and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and numerous true and loyal friends. He will be deeply missed for he was loved dearly by all. And so we go forward, as Suni would say, "Keep The Faith", and "Keep on Keeping On".
