Smith, Elmer, 88, of Deltona, FL and formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday September 20, 2003 at Deltona Health Care in Deltona. Born in Williamsburg, KY, he came to St. Petersburg in 1972 from Annandale, VA, before later moving to Deltona in 1994. He served in the Army during WWII. He was a retired Mail Carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Annandale, VA. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. He was a Life Member of the D.A.V., Sunshine City Chapter #9 and the American Legion in St. Petersburg. Survivors include his wife, Jewel F.; two sons: Elmer J. Smith, Deltona, FL; and Fred Smith, Clearwater, FL; one sister, Elberta McMillen, Covington, KY; one brother, Ernest Smith, New Castle, IN; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel.
