Elsie Margaret Amyx
October 1st, 1925 - March 9th, 2019
ELSIE AMYX Kingsport- Elsie Margaret Amyx, 93, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 9, 2019) at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Church Hill and had resided in Kingsport the majority of her life. Elsie worked at Tri-City Paving for several years. She enjoyed most of all taking care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Amyx faithfully attend Church of Jesus Christ and loved flowers, especially roses. Elsie was instrumental in raising 19 children and grandchildren which included four generations. Elsie Amyx was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Amyx; her parents, Kelly and Susie Christian; a daughter, Doris Amyx; her son, Jack Amyx; grandsons, Dewayne Laughlin, Tony Martin, Adam Amyx, and Jeff Amyx; her granddaughters, Frankie Carter and Jackie Amyx; a great granddaughter, Megan Amyx; two great grandsons, Graison Winstead and Kenden Ferguson; brothers, Buck Christian and Bill Christian; sisters, Dallas Christian, Oma Henry, Irene Byington, Dolly Christian along with a special friend to the family, Evangelist Larry McAmis. Elsie Amyx is survived by her children, Frank Amyx, Glenda Travis, Kathy Tate, Jasmine Hallock, Ethan Hatcher, Cameron Hatcher, and Caden Hatcher; her sisters, Helen Russell and Geneva Sloan; 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 43 great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday (March 15, 2019) from 12 noon until 2 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the granddaughter, 1402 Harmony Ridge Drive in Kingsport. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Short, officiating. Music will be provided by Joy Adinolfi and Melody Pierson. A graveside service will follow the funeral service on Friday (March 15, 2019) at Oak Hill Cemetery with Jeff Huff, Kevin Barger, Curtis Dishner, Kermit AMyx, Donnie Bingham, and Anthony Laughlin.
