Elsie Fontaine passed away at the age of 95 in Port Charlotte, FL in March. A funeral mass with burial of cremains was held at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, FL. A memorial Mass is scheduled for July 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Saint Anne Church, Waterbury, CT.

Elsie was born in Waterbury, CT to Antoine P. Guertin and Hermina Aube. In 1951 she married George S. Fontaine (deceased) at St. Anne’s Church in Waterbury, CT. She lived in Waterbury until 1991 when she retired to Florida.

Elsie is survived by two daughters, Elaine Chouinard of Naugatuck, CT and Audrey Fontaine of Cust, NZ. Her grandchildren are Martin and Teresa Chouinard. Elsie is preceded in death by her siblings Antoine C. Guertin and Agnes Robert.

Elsie worked as an Independent Agent and Office Manager for the George S. Fontaine Associated Services Insurance Agency. She held roles as the first secretary of St. Anne’s School Education Association, Vice-President of the Waterbury Association of Insurance Women, and secretary of the Conseil Villa Maria, all in Waterbury, CT. In North Port, FL she was a member of the Harbor Isles and Lazy River Ladies Golf Leagues, Harbor Isles line dancers, shuffleboard and bocce leagues, computer club, Widows and Widowers group, Singles group and the Red Hat Society. She was also an usher at San Pedro Catholic Church for many years. Elsie will be missed by many
