Elvira Virginia Chávez (Jr.) “Ginnie” 17 July 1949 to 07 March 2022 What Price Grace by Elvira Virginia Chávez Easter Idol Gigantic heads that never Speak, yet venerated Why the rain, crops death? In simple mind, only the Tangible is understood, Have NO other Gods (gods) before ye! the ONLY Unforgiven— “Bloody” Murder maybe understood GRACE has its Price Dust you ARE Dust you will remain! Jehovah DID NOT GIVE LIFE Only RENTED IT Ginnie passed on 07 March 2022 after an extended fight with COVID-19. At her bedside were her sister, Darlene, and cousins Monica and Art Esquivel. Ginnie was the first born child of Elvira Virginia Chávez (nee Chavira), and Victor Brito Chávez. Ginnie was born and raised in Tucson where she attended Borton Elementary, Safford Junior High and Pueblo High schools. She went on to earn two master’s degrees at the University of Arizona: Master of Education and Master of Library Science. She held librarian positions in Tempe and Bisbee. Her voracious reading clearly demonstrated her love of all things written. Ginnie was brilliant with a special affinity to the creative arts. She loved acting, drama, painting, and writing. As an adult, Ginnie spent untold hours pursuing both painting and writing. Her painting talent was cultivated by self-teaching. She made liberal use of a variety of instruction books. Ginnie entered her works in local art exhibitions and sold pieces at local art fairs. Her first love, aside from her cats, was poetry writing. Her works were published, most recently in Wisdom Reverie…A Treasure of Writing From Us to You, published by the Lend a Hand, Senior Writers Grant, Tucson, Arizona 2014. Her poems had immensely powerful symbolism which were made even more so by employing a creative poetic stanza structure. The author page of Wisdom and Reverie described Ginnie as “…trying to find out the TRUTH—by searching for the Face of the LORD…” Ginnie suffered from mental health issues. Through-out her journey on earth, she was supported by La Frontera, COPE, Lend a Hand and myriad caring friends and family. Ginnie is missed by many, most especially her father and sister. May she have reached her goal of “…finding the Face of the LORD.” A Celebration of Ginnie’s life is to be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1300 N. Greasewood Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745. A Rosary will take place at 9:30am, Funeral Mass at 10:30am, and a Reception to follow in the Reception Room.
