Emelyn Ann Hauser

Emelyn Ann Hauser was born August 6, 1922 to Roy and Lucille (Preston) Winslow in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away at the age of 95 on October 11, 2017 in Olympia, Washington. She resided at The Firs in Olympia the past six years, and before that lived in Tumwater, Washington from 2003 to 2012, and West Seattle from 1962 to 2003. Emelyn graduated from Garfield High School in 1939, and Pacific Lutheran University in 1962. She taught elementary school in the Seattle Public School District from 1962 to 1992. She married Jack Hauser on December 16, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. They enjoyed 67 wonderful years together until his death on January 23, 2009 in Olympia. Emelyn was a faithful and fair woman. She also was smart and loved reading. At the age of 94, she decided she needed to read The Federalist Papers. In addition, she loved gardening and was a member of Master Gardeners of Olympia. She belonged to the Community for Interfaith Celebration. She is survived by her sons, Richard Douglas Hauser of Olympia, and James Winslow Hauser of Vashon Island, Washington; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
