Emery William Meeks
May 12th, 1948 - July 29th, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Emery W Meeks announces his passing on July 29, 2023. Emery was born May 12, 1948 in Sweet Home, Oregon, to William A. (Bill) and Gladyse G. Robison Meeks. He passed at the age of 75 at home in Middleton, Idaho surrounded by his loving family. Emery lived most of his life on the family farm in Middleton where Bill and Gladyse homesteaded in 1950. He graduated from Caldwell High in 1966 and continued his education at Idaho State University. After school he spent 4 years living abroad in India and Afghanistan before returning to the farm. He married Ella Smith in August of 1983 and they had 2 children, Tyson and Jessica. Emery loved living off the land and resided and worked on the farm until his passing. He had a great fondness for all creatures great and small and had many pets over the years, including homing pigeons in his youth. He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, target shooting, gardening, camping, rock hunting, sports and British sitcoms. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a son Tyson Meeks (Christina Meeks), a daughter Jessica Meeks (Robert Swistok), 3 grand children, Adrian, Nathan and Kaci Meeks; his sister Janis Ekberg (William Ekberg), as well as many extended family members. A viewing will be held at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho on Monday, August 14th from 4 - 7 pm. Emery will be deeply missed by his many family, friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Emery’s favorite charities: the International Rescue committee (IRC), the Idaho Foodbank, or Public Television (PBS).
