Emilia DeMontigny
October 15th, 1927 - January 15th, 2019
"South Hadley - Emilia (Tonelli) DeMontigny, 91, passed away at home on January 15, 2019. Born October 15, 1927 in Chicopee, MA, daughter of the late of Gabriello and Angela (Raffanetti) Tonelli. She was raised in Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee High School She lived in Holyoke before moving to South Hadley in 1994. Emilia was a communicant and active volunteer at St. Patrick's Church. In her leisure, she enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading and cooking. She is survived by two nephews, David Tonelli and his partner Dennis Paiva of Dedham, Paul Tonelli and his wife Kathleen of Easthampton, brother-in-laws, Joseph DeMontigny of FL and Maurice DeMontigny of SouthCarolina. She also leaves beloved great nieces Shannon Tonelli of Framingham and Alexandra Tonelli of Granby, as well as many special nieces and nephews from the DeMontigny family. Emilia was preceded in death by her husband Rene J. DeMontigny in 2003 and her brother Raymond Tonelli and his wife Pauline. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in the St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield. Donations may be made in her memory to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation."
