EMILY M. CORSON, 85, of Port Charlotte passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Village Place Nursing and Rehabilitation in Port Charlotte. She was born on February 8, 1925 in the Philippines to the late Candido and Felisa (Medina) Sasoy. She worked as an assembler in the automotive industry and moved to Florida from Durham, Connecticut in 1980. She was an active member of the Village of Holiday Lakes Association; a Past President of the Englewood DOES; a former employee of Altera-Sterling House in Rotonda West; and co-founder of Fil-Am Club in Pt. Charlotte. Mrs. Corson was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Harold Corson in 2001 and a daughter Urmeida Martini in 2006. Survivors include one daughter: Cheryl Kiaffas of Pt. Charlotte, FL; three sons: Danilo Arcenas of Rotonda West, FL; James C. Corson of Pt. Charlotte, FL: Galen Corson of Fresno, CA; one step-son: Reed Corson of Bangor, ME; one nephew: Anthony Martini of North Port, FL; former daughter-in-law: Naida Arcenas; ten grand children and five great grand children. Services will be held at a later date in Connecticut Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been selected to handle arrangements.
