Emma Justis Sloan

Emma Justis Sloan, beloved daughter of Vicki and Henry Sloan, passed away on January 13, 2024. Emma was born on August 29, 1983, in Charlotte, where she lived her entire life. Emma graduated from UNCC with a BA degree in Early Childhood Education and continued her education with degrees in Coding and Medical Assistant. Emma was a generous and selfless person to her friends and family, and she loved them passionately. She grew up in an incredible family relationship with her five cousins in Charlotte, with whom she closely bonded. She loved all children, but especially theirs, and took great delight in all the wonderful stories and antics of her cousins’ 14 adorable children! She was also a loving Godmother to Kiley Brown, daughter of her dearest friend, Tandi Brown. Emma was predeceased by her father, Henry Lee Sloan, III; grandparents Billie Gene and Ed Jackson Davis and Dr. and Mrs. Henry Sloan, Jr; step grandmother Barbara Davis; uncle Mike Bailey, aunt and uncle Angie and John Avinger and cousin Jay; and aunt Shawn Lake. She is survived by her mother, Vicki Sloan, to whom she was devoted; aunts Cindy Bailey, Kathy Withrow (Andy), and Shields Sloan; cousins Michael Bailey (Melisa); Brooks Bailey ( Lucy); Elizabeth Nicholson (Ryan); Meredith Cook ( Sterling); Madison Sargent (David); and Megan Mullen. Emma’s family would like to thank Perfect Care of the Carolinas and Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate and exemplary services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care or the charity of your choice. A private memorial service will be held by her family.
