Yuma, VA - Emma L. Sandidge Winegar, 93, of Yuma, VA went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, April 22, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Yuma, VA and had lived there all her life. Mrs. Winegar attended Oak Glen Baptist Church, Yuma, VA. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. K. Winegar; parents, Walker and Alice Byington Sandidge; brother, Vernon Sandidge; sister, Ann Tate. Surviving are her daughters, Janice Winegar of the home, Charlene Shelton and husband, Tom of Newport, TN; sons, Marvin Winegar and wife Judy of Yuma, Olen Keith Winegar and wife, Nawadah of Church Hill , TN; grandchildren, Deborah Glover and husband, Frank, Dennis Winegar and wife Debi, Christy Maldoff and husband Steven; Stephen Shelton and wife Crystal, Natasha Bice and husband, Rob, Lindsey Winegar and wife Julie, Paul Shelton and wife Stephanie; great grandchildren, Courtney Bolling and husband Josh, Lakin Glover, Jordan Slough, Tyler Cole, Hunter Winegar, Jayson Cole, Sarah Maldoff, Keaton Shelton, Emma Grace Bice, Kamron Shelton, Emily Maldoff, Abigail Maldoff, Maggie Hope Bice, Kinsleah Shelton, Andrew Shelton, Jace Winegar; great-great grandchildren, Caleb Bolling and Carys Bolling; sisters, Jamie Tate and husband Lloyd of Yuma, Bessie Cox of Yuma; brother, Bill Sandidge and wife Doris of Church Hill; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday April 24, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Holston View Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2 pm to go in to procession. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Glen Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 158, Gate City, VA 24251, Homeland Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2504 Hawaii Street, Kingsport, TN 37664 or Higher Ground Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1625 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37665. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Winegar family.
