Emmy Abrahams
October 19th, 1933 - September 17th, 2021
With great sadness we said goodbye to our mother Emmy Abrahams on September 17, 2021. Emmy passed away after a sudden and brief illness. Emmy was preceeded in death by her husband, Dr. David Abrahams, her son, Richard Abrahams and her parents, Jack and Florence Phillips and brothers, John and Kenneth Phillips. Emmy was born in New York on October 19th, 1933. She lived most of her life in California with brief stints in New Paltz, New York, Chapel Hill, NC and Seattle, WA. At the time of her death, she had been living in Auburn California for about 9 years. Emmy is remembered for her love of books, gardening and her family. Emmy made great friends everywhere she lived. She worked for 10 years as the librarian, after-school director and Center Stage Director at San Francisco Day School. Emmy also founded and ran Quail Meadows Science Camp in Hyampom, California. She was fiercely independent and lived her life exactly as she wanted with no regrets. She touched many lives and loved sharing books with her family and friends. Emmy is survived by her children, Susan (Daniel Reider), Elizabeth, Andrew Abrahams(Krista) and Steven Abrahams (Heidi); by her grandchildren, Sam Reider(Claire) Jacob David, Jonah Williams, Clara, Frodo, Ras, Audrey and Jack. We will miss her and are glad she is at peace. A celebration of Life will be planned for later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Planned Parenthood or the Auburn public library. A celebration of her life is being planned for March 2022.
