Eric William Keary, 51, passed away October 16, 2023 in Westminster, Colorado. He was born November 15, 1971 in Denver to Timothy Keary and Deborah Thompson and grew up in the Denver area. Eric graduated from Jefferson High School in 1990, and the day after his graduation entered the US Navy where he proudly served his country during the first Gulf War. Eric married Jamie McGehee on October 6, 1997 in Denver and settled in Loveland while he raised his family and finished school. Eric attended the University of Colorado while working as the IT manager at Output Services in Boulder. Upon his graduation with a computer science degree in 2008, he started working for Magpie and then moved over to Gogo Business Aviation in Broomfield. Eric had a very strong work ethic and that served him well as a software engineer as well as in life. He was extremely intelligent and loved to learn. He studied foreign languages, and was an avid reader and book collector. He loved being outdoors exploring new places and trails, instilling a love of camping in his daughter.. He hiked several of Colorado’s 14ers as well as several backpacking trails in Colorado, Yosemite, and Yellowstone. He loved his children, family, friends, and teammates. Eric was very generous often giving away everything he had. He would always say, “You need this more than I do.” Eric was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints but in recent years had embraced the teachings of Buddha. He found great comfort in the practice of meditation and the peaceful nature found in the Buddhist culture and attended a Dharma center in Denver. Eric is survived by his daughter Nicole Keary, his sons Alexander Keary and Ethan Keary, all of Ft Collins; his mother Deborah Thompson of Westminster; his sister Stacy Keary-Bini (Alberto) of Las Vegas, NV, his granddaughter Raina Welch of Pueblo, and his ex wife Jamie Keary of Ft Collins. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Amber Keary, his father Timothy Keary, grandparents Roderick and Dolores Thompson and Gloria Keary. Cremation has been conducted. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming months.
