Erika Bieger

Our wonderful mother left us suddenly and peacefully on May 1, leaving a great void in our lives. Loving and caring, she was always there for us, and we miss her dearly. Born in the Sudentenland, she was one of the best German cooks ever, and we were spoiled with holidays and Sunday dinners filled with Schweinebraten, Knödel, Roladen, Rotkraut, amazing desserts, and so many other German delicacies. The stories of her life during WWII were incredible and kept us fascinated for hours. A wonderful seamstress and knitter, she would knit blankets and shawls by the dozens every year and deliver them to neonatal units at local hospitals, retirement homes, and to those less fortunate. She was very generous and had numerous charities to which she donated. It's hard to imagine life without her. She is predeceased by her husband, Frederick M. Bieger and her daughter, Susan Bieger. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Bieger and Kathy Bieger; her two sisters, Edda Allen of Florida and Heidi Roth of Frankfurt, Germany; her sons-in-law, Chuck Jaffe and Berni Sharkus and her granddaughter, Erica "Riki" Richmond (Tobi).
