Ermalinda Brudzowski

Ermalinda Bruzdowski, 97, a life-long resident of Amsterdam, New York, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1927 to the late Massimo "Mike" and Mary (Pisano) Bonomo.

On June 6, 1948 Erma was united in marriage to Bernard Bruzdowski, also of Amsterdam. The couple shared nearly 47 wonderful years together before his passing on May 10, 1995. Erma was also preceded in passing by her daughter, Mary Linda Bruzdowski on November 8, 2006, her two brothers, Anthony and Raymond Bruzdowski, and her cousin, Don Going.

Erma worked as a secretary at the Naval Supply Depot in Scotia for her entire career. Throughout her life, she always loved to travel. She enjoyed visiting her camp on the Sacandaga Lake during summers, and traveling to Florida with her husband, and later her cousins, in the winters. She also made a few trips to Italy to visit her extended family.

Erma leaves behind her closest cousin, who was like a sister to her for her entire life, Delsie Going. She also leaves behind many other cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her very much.

Erma's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff and nurses at Wilkinson, for the care they provided to Erma, as well as her family throughout the many years she lived there.

Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, following the calling time, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery following Mass, where she will be laid to rest with Bernard. Memorial contributions may be made in Erma's memory to the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility Adult Day Health Program, 4988 NY-30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
