Ernest †œErnie†� Orlando Costello of Denver, CO; passed away unexpectedly at the age of 87 on December 6th 2012. Born on January 4th 1925 in Clayton, NM to the late Jose Jr. and Rose Costello; Ernie spent his formative years in Colorado. Graduating high school and pursuing a higher education at university before enlisting in the Army of the United States on July 20th 1943. During his service Ernie obtained the rank of Corporal, being bestowed with a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Upon being honorably discharged in the spring of 1946 and returning from service Ernie continued working as a federal government employee in the Air Force Accounting Finance Center at Lowry Air Force Base up until retirement in 1982. Making homes in Colorado, Georgia and Florida a voracious work ethic kept Ernie active and employed in numerous fields until his passing †" one of many admirable traits imparted to his children along with his devotion to and for the Denver Broncos. Preceded by brothers John and Jose; Ernie is survived by his wife Linda, and four children: Jennifer, Tina, Chris and Jim; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Ernie†™s philanthropic name †" as a volunteer in the community and ultimately as an organ donor - to the Disabled American Veterans foundation. A viewing will be held at Aspen Mortuaries 1350 Simms St., Lakewood, CO 80401, (303) 232-1102 on Tuesday, December 11th 2012 from 10:00am †˜till 3:00pm. Burial service will be held with full honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236 (303) 761-0117 on Thursday, December 13th 2012 at 10:20am.
