Rev. Ernest B. "Ernie" Fisher, Jr., PhD., 93, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 at Bayfront Medical Center. He was born in Norwood, Massachusetts and moved to St. Petersburg in 2006 from Daytona Beach, FL where he had lived for 40 years and was the second generation to live in the house on South Grand View Ave. He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts; Andover-Newton Theological Seminary in Newton, MA; Union Theological Seminary in New York, NY; and the University of London, England. He was a Minister at United Churches Of Christ and was also an Archeologist at the American School Of Oriental Research in Jerusalem. He was a consultant on the teachings of Paul for a documentary film and had just finished two manuscripts in 2005. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach where he was a member of the men's group. He was also active at the Ormond Beach, FL Union Church and was a reader and teacher at both churches. He was Chaplain of the neighborhood watch. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rev. E. Wilkin "Wil" and Patti Cooksey Fisher of St. Petersburg; and six grandchildren, A. Jason Fisher, C. Roy Allison, Robert P. Allison, Daryl Atanasu, Amanda E. Fisher, Edythe Rogers and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Rev. Helen L. Fisher. A memorial service was also held February 23, 2007, Friday, 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Bayfront Medical Center 701-6th St. So. St. Petersburg, FL with Chaplain Doug Harrell officiating.
