Ernest Maresca

Ernest Maresca, age 84, from Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on January 30, 2023. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 24, 1938 to parents Mario and Rose Maresca. He graduated from Ft. Hamilton High School in 1956. He then went to the Academy of Aeronautics. He married Gloria in Brooklyn, New York on November 4th, 1961. Ernest always wanted to be a pilot so he went to flight school, completed his training and became a pilot. He was an instructor for young women and men at the CAP (Civil Air Patrol) while also doing surveillance flights for CAP. Ernest had a successful career and became a Captain for American Airlines. He also received an award for 50 years of flying without a single incident. Ernest then moved to Florida in 1991. He retired from American Airlines and became a flight instructor. Ernest was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Grey Eagles, Yacht Club and an Auxiliary Police office for the town of Punta Gorda, for 20 years and received an commendation from the department in 2021. He loved airplanes, classic Camaro's and traveling with his wife Gloria. Ernest was in the Marines and enjoyed all things military, like looking at old war pictures from the 40's and 50's. His greatest memories included going disco dancing with his wife Gloria. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Mario and Rose Maresca; his wife, Gloria; his son, Lawrence; his granddaughter, Jeanette Davis; and his brother, Domenick Maresca. Ernest is survived by his daughter, Nicole Maresca; grandchildren, Daniel Davis and AnnaMarie Blackwell; great grandchildren, Michael, Aria and Dominick Davis; and sisters, Celeste Tarrazi and Frances Zogby.
