Ernest Charles Merkel
October 24th, 1929 - May 5th, 2021
Ernest C. Merkel, born October 24, 1929, died and was taken to heaven on May 5, 2021. He was the son of Ernest Sr and Elsie Merkel. Ernest was known to all who knew him as Ernie. Ernie was born in Baltimore MD. He attended the University of Maryland where he earned a bachelors, masters and doctor of dental surgery. He married Ann Norfolk on August 10, 1956. In 1960 they moved to Westminster where he began his dental practice which remained active until 2002. They were the parents of four children- Sharon Ann Squicciarino ( husband Joe), Ernest III (wife Jennifer), Kyle Edward Alwin, Kristen Lee Blatter(husband Dean) His son Ernie, III preceded him in death. Ernie was blessed with six grandchildren John, Mark, Allison, Hannah, Cara and Grace He loved to travel and went to every continent except Antarctica. In later years his choice of travel was cruising. He was talented in art and music. He played the piano, drew, sculpted and made gold jewelry for his family. Playing the piano calmed him after a difficult day in the office. Ernie was a humble, gentle man who loved his God, his family and his friends.
