ERNEST R. "ERNIE" VOGEL JR. age 82 of Jefferson passed away on July 23, 2016 at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Whitewater. He was born on October 14, 1933 in Jefferson, Wisconsin son of the late Ernest J. and Coletta (Wedl) Vogel. Ernest graduated in 1956 from Marquette University in Milwaukee with a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. He then served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He was a Supervisor for the Milwaukee County Public Works for 30 + years and was involved in the original design of the Marquette Interchange. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He will be deeply missed by his family. Sr. Marianne Vogel OSF of Milwaukee, Luella Vogel of Jefferson, Brothers Francis (Dorothy A.) Vogel of Jefferson, Lyle K. Vogel of Milwaukee, Sisters-in-law Clara Vogel of Jefferson, Dorothy K. Vogel of Jefferson, Dorothy J. Vogel of Jefferson and Kathryn Vogel of Jefferson. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is also preceded in death by sister Elisabeth (Reuben) Schroedl, Brothers Joseph (Marion) Vogel, Lawrence (Marion) Vogel, Albin Vogel, James Vogel, Carroll Vogel, Myron Vogel, and Arnold Vogel Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday July 28, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Private family burial will be on Friday. Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic church on Thursday evening from 4:30-6:30 Visit www.schneidermichaelisfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence or light a candle in his memory.
