Ernestine Celestia “Gan-Gan” Jay Magni, 94, of Lexington, SC, passed away on August 15, 2024. She was born on July 1, 1930 in Saluda, SC to the late Simeon Cromer “Sim” Jay and Daisy Belle Stewart Jay. She graduated from Saluda High School and then attended the Columbia Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health and retired as a Nursing Supervisor after 25 years of service.
Celestia is survived by her children, Joseph Jay Magni (Arlene), John David Magni, Tina Celeste Eunice (Lee) and Kathryn Annemarie Adkins; grandchildren, Lori Latham (Bo), Joey Magni, Josh Magni (Becca), Jason Magni (Georgina), John Magni, Jr. (Brittany), Robin Stroupe (Tim), Melanie Nance, Sheri Michelle Magni, Christopher Eunice (Brittney), Michael Eunice (Cassey), Katie Shirley (Brady), Austin Cooper (Aubrey); great grandchildren, Paislee, Hudson, Lillian, Elise and Emily Eunice, Morgan and Makinley Magni, Landen and Taylor Stroupe, Zayne Nance, Luke and Brantley Berrier, Wyatt Shirley, Kylie and Kierstyn Latham, Selena, Caroline and Charlotte Magni, Cherish Howell and Jameson Phillips; nephews, Steve Rodger (Teresa) and Ricky Rodgers.
Celestia is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Magni who passed away in 1980; her parents, Simeon and Daisy Jay; her siblings, Vivian Irvine Jay Branham, Luther Earl Jay, Enoch Marion E.M. Jay, Mary Ruth Jay, Stewart Cromer Jay and Ethel Marie Jay Rodgers; and her son, James Stewart Magni.
A funeral service will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington, SC on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 2PM. The family will greet friends from 12:30PM to 2PM and an entombment will take place immediately following the service at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC.
