Ernie Ernie

Oresto ('Ernie') Persechino of Cocoa Beach, Florida, died after a long illness on July 22, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (McGee); son, Ernest and his wife Christine; daughter, Nancy and her husband Scott; grandchildren, Cara, Matt and Adam; great granddaughter, Cali Jean; brother, Joe; and his wife, Carol; sister, Vye; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary and youngest daughter, Mary. Ernie was born on January 28, 1926 in South Barre, Massachusetts. He served in the Navy during World War II as an aviation cadet and was honorably discharged due to a service-related injury in 1947. He attended the University of Massachusetts and earned a degree in mechanical engineering. Before his retirement in 1989, Ernie was employed by several companies providing support services for the Space Shuttle.Ernie was a complex man of strong emotions and profound love. He was also a helluva dancer. At Peace, at last. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Church of Our Saviour Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach.
