Erwin "Erv" W. Vorderstrasse

Erwin "Erv” Vorderstrasse, 92, of Greeley, CO passed away on May 18, 2015. He was born January 11, 1923 in Plymouth, NE to Casper and Louise (Pittnauer) Vorderstrasse. Erv grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School. He was engaged in farming until February 1943, when he was inducted into the United States Army, serving in the European countries under General Patton, being discharged in December 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, KS. On August 21, 1949 in Blue Hill, NE Erv married Doris Scheiding. Erv and Doris moved to Greeley in 1956, where he worked in construction, Harsh Hydraulics, Consumer Oil Company, Edwards Chevrolet, Farmhand and finally retired from Kodak in 1988. He liked woodworking, fishing, and always grew the best tomatoes in his garden. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Weber and her husband Bill of Greeley; sisters, Alvina Holz of Sidney, NE, Hulda Scheiding of Blue Hill, NE, Lioda Yost of Crete, NE; and brother, Freddie (Joan) Vorderstrasse of Fairbury, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; and brothers, Carl, Herbert and Elmer Vorderstrasse. Viewing will be on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634. A celebration of Erv’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
