Esther Blackwell
November 19th, 1951 - October 15th, 2017
Esther Gretchen Blackwell was called home by our Heavenly Father Sunday October 15, 2017, after a 4 month battle with cancer. She was home with her 2 daughters and husband. She passed peacefully and without any pain, Praise the Lord! Esther was born on Monday November 19, 1951 in Anaheim, CA. She worked as a beautician for years and was retired from the Post Office after 31 years. We believe that God has a special call for each of His Saints. I believe her call was to be ESTHER. She touched many, many lives. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was 1 of God's greatest singers because she sang from her heart. She was a church pianist for over 50 years. She's been a Missionary Baptist since she was saved as a young girl of 8 on September 13, 1959 in Wenatchee, Wa., and was baptized September 27, 1959 in the Columbia River. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Tom, daughters Kristen Grossen and Amy McClure, sister Connie Lawless, brother Arthur D. Harris, her grandkids who she loved very much Josie, Gracie, Paige, Kaylee and Peyton, they absolutely adored their "Grammy", numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded to Heaven by her parents Arthur A. Harris, Irene Cooper Harris, Sisters Cynthia Browning and Paula Sumner. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 1-9pm at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2017 1pm at the First Baptist Church, 1130 San Vicente Avenue, Salinas, CA (Refreshments and fellowship will follow the services.) We Entrusted Esther Blackwell's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
