November 19th, 1915 - July 22nd, 2015
Esther Minerva Romans Campbell Esther Minerva Romans Campbell was born November 19, 1915, in Cardington, Ohio and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2015 at Rideout Hospital in Marysville. She was a Yuba City resident for 13 years, moving here from Calistoga to live with her son, David Campbell, and daughter-in-law, Melia Campbell. She is survived by daughter-in-law Melia Campbell Frank and husband Anthony Frank of Yuba City, her grandchildren Erik Goodman (Ashley) of Plumas Lake, Jamie Weston (Daniel) of Killeen, Texas, April Goodman of Olivehurst, and Julia Campbell of Yuba City. She has a sister, Isabel Thomas, of Richmond, California, and several nieces and nephews. Her step-son Benjamin Campbell resides in Berkeley, California. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Adelbert Campbell, her son David Campbell, her daughter Sylvia Suzanne Smith, as well as her parents, Oscar Clyde and Grace Romans, and her sister Vera Romans,. Esther was very active in community events, including community theater and local clubs in Calistoga and Saint Helena, California. She was a member of the Republican Women and served for many years as a volunteer at the Saint Helena Hospital in Saint Helena, CA, logging over 3000 hours as a volunteer. She spent many hours volunteering at the Calistoga Community Presbyterian Church. Esther was known as mom and grandma to dozens and was loved and admired by many. She was "mom" to foreign exchange student, Bill Minh of Vietnam, who lived in their home as he attended the local high school. Esther's love and kindness touched many lives. There are few in this world who live such an exemplary life as Esther. She came to our home and brought her spirit of kindness and generosity. She never spoke a harsh word and never spoke ill of anyone. Esther never uttered a word of complaint or discontent. She expressed gratitude and love to those around her. She was truly a unique and lovely woman, inside and out. Our family has been privileged to have her with us in our home and we miss her greatly, and we know that her reunion with her husband and children was a joyous one. Per Esther's request there will be no service. Should you feel so inclined, feel free to make a donation to a charity or group of your choice, or simply do something kind for someone today, and remember Esther.
