Esther Ackerman Scott, 77, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022. Born June 7, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, she grew up in Fort Mill, SC and spent the majority of her adult years in Whiteville, NC where she made lifetime friends. Esther is survived by her Mother, Sarah Ackerman of Fort Mill, SC; Children, Rachel (and Brad) Couchenour of Charlotte, NC and Benjamin Leder of Sanford, FL; Daughter-in-law, Shannon Leder of Concord, NC; Siblings, Allan Ackerman of Columbia, SC, Penni (and Steve) Powell of Charlotte, NC, and Bernie (and Teri) Ackerman of Fort Mill, SC; along with three grandsons, Matthew and Bennett Leder of Concord, NC and George Couchenour of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by her father George Ackerman and Son, Samuel Leder. Esther was a teacher at heart and loved to give back to her community as evidenced by her volunteerism and leadership in civic organizations too numerous to list. She worked in Whiteville City Schools for over 30 years as a teacher and later in her career as a guidance counselor. She enjoyed traveling the world but thoroughly loved her time at North Myrtle Beach walking on the beach and collecting seashells. In retirement she enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and spending time with her family. A funeral ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Charlotte, NC at Temple Israel which was followed by an immediate graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to either the Columbus County DREAM Center (403 S.
