Mrs. Ethel Levy Cooper, 83, of Stoners Trail Road, Fonda, NY died peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2010 following a short illness. Born in Schenectady, NY on December 21, 1926 she was the daughter of the late John Levy and Irene McCone Coons. Mrs. Cooper attended local schools and later went to work for New York State in the Department of Filing and Accounting until her retirement. A women of faith and family; she was a very kind and nurturing mother, who loved her family dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cooper in 2003; her son-in-law, John Nichols in 2000 and her grandson, Kerry Nichols in 2007. Survivors include her children, Gary Cooper of MA, and Barbara Nichols of Amsterdam, NY; her grandson, Derek Nevin Nichols of Amsterdam, NY; her siblings, Everett Coons, Sr. of Glenville, NY and Bertha Priddle of Schenectady, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Service of Remembrance on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring her grandson, Kerry Nichols, may be made to the Autism Society or to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home office. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
